Draft

What is a Draft?
A draft is a Limited format where you select cards from a pool of cards shared with other players. The two draft formats available in Magic Online are Booster Draft and Rochester Draft.

Where Can You Play Draft Events?
You can find draft events in the Casual Play, Premier Events, and Sanctioned Play rooms. The Casual Play area is the only place you can start your own draft event. You can find scheduled draft tournaments in the Premier Events and Sanctioned Play rooms. The Sanctioned Play area also has 8-player queues for both Booster and Rochester Drafts.

To start a draft event, go to the Draft Room in the Casual Play area.

Click the New Game table in the upper-left corner of the room or click New Trn to open the New Tournament Options window. Then select the options you want for your draft event.

How to Join a Draft
To find a draft in the Casual Play area, look at the list (in spreadsheet view) or point your mouse at a table with open chairs (in graphic view) to see what types of drafts are waiting to start. Then select the draft and click Join (in spreadsheet view) or click an empty chair at the table (in graphic view) to join. The Waiting for Players window will open with your avatar at the table along with other players who've joined. You can click the cancel button to resign from the draft before it starts.

See Tournaments for information about joining a draft tournament. See Sanctioned Play for information about the 8-player queues.
